Former President Trump's oldest granddaughter, Kai Trump, delivered a heartfelt and personal tribute to her grandfather on the RNC stage Wednesday night.
"I'm here to share a side of my grandpa that people don't often see," she began. "To me, he's just a normal grandpa. He gives us candy and soda when our parents aren't looking and always wants to know how we're doing in school."
Throughout Kai's speech, Trump beamed with pride. Her appearance adds to a growing list of individuals, primarily women, who have revealed a more personal side of the former president.
"Even amidst all his court cases, he always asks me how I'm doing and encourages me to push myself to be the most successful person I can be," she said. "Obviously, he sets the bar pretty high, but who knows, maybe one day I'll catch up to him."
This marked a significant debut for the next generation of Trumps.
Her father, Donald Trump Jr., introduced her, noting it was her "first time ever on a stage" and "first time ever giving a speech."
Who is Kai Trump?
Kai is the eldest daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and his ex-wife, Vanessa Trump. At 17, she will not be old enough to vote this year.
An avid golfer, she recently posted a photo on Instagram standing beside her grandfather after winning a tournament at the Trump International Palm Beach golf course.
After the assassination attempt against Trump on Saturday, she offered words of support in a post featuring a photo of a bloodied Trump raising his fist. "We love you, Grandpa. Never stop fighting!" she wrote.

Former President and 2024 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump cheered alongside U.S. Representative Byron Donalds, Senator J.D. Vance, House Speaker Mike Johnson, and other family members, including Lara Trump, Eric Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Kimberly Guilfoyle, as he arrived at the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Three of Trump's five children—Donald Jr., Tiffany, and Eric—have been seen at the convention. Eric’s wife, Lara, who is co-chair of the RNC, gave the keynote speech Tuesday night. Kimberly Guilfoyle, Don Jr.'s fiancée, is expected to speak tonight, and Kai's mom, Vanessa Trump, was present at the RNC on Wednesday to support her daughter.
Ivanka and Jared Kushner
Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, have yet to make an appearance at this year's RNC, despite their roles as senior advisers during Trump's presidency.
Ivanka released a statement on social media in 2022 explaining her departure from politics: "I do not plan to be involved in politics," she said on Instagram Stories. "While I will always love and support my father, going forward, I will do so outside the political arena."
