The Hungarian Prime Minister has not only used the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union for provocative purposes, but he has also strategically placed his allies in the European Parliament by forming a new alliance, the Patriotes pour l’Europe.
With 84 members of parliament from twelve member states representing fourteen parties, this new alliance instantly becomes the third-largest force in the chamber, surpassing the Italian Prime Minister in influence.
